Once Upon a Time:
EMDR & Story-Writing
WHEN: 1&2 August 2025 (Friday-Saturday)
9:00 am to 4:00 pm MDT
WHERE: Virtually on MS Teams
"Once Upon a Time: EMDR & Story-Writing" is a live webinar and training exploring the integration of story-writing techniques with EMDR to enhance therapeutic outcomes. Participants will learn how to guide the caregivers of their clients in creating personal narratives that facilitate healing and transformation. Through a combination of lectures, hands-on exercises, and case studies, clinicians will gain practical skills to incorporate story-writing into their EMDR practice, helping clients to process trauma and build resilience.
Story-writing through EMDR therapy involves the creation of structured narratives that reflect clients' experiences and traumas. This technique leverages the therapeutic power of storytelling to help clients externalize and reframe their traumatic memories, as well as strengthen adaptive memories. By writing stories about their past, clients can gain a sense of control and coherence over their experiences, which is crucial for emotional healing. The process of story-writing allows clients to explore and articulate their feelings, identify patterns, and develop new perspectives, thereby facilitating cognitive and emotional processing.
